AKTUALITA.CO.ID – PT Gamma Buana Persada continues its role as host of the annual meeting of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) by organizing a dedicated Technical Workshop for rope access assessors and instructors. The event took place at the SaVa Group office, Pulomas Commercial Complex, Pulo Gadung, North Jakarta, on Thursday (08/05/25).
“This is an annual technical workshop for assessors and instructors, particularly trainers and instructor educators. While yesterday’s event was more informative, featuring a presentation from Dr. Sheila, CEO of IRATA, to all IRATA members in Asia, today we are focusing on technical aspects—discussing standards, certifications, and the safety and comfort of rope access usage,” said Sabandi, Owner of PT Gamma Buana Persada.
He explained that rope access is a technique for working at height using ropes, divided into three levels. Level 1 is designated for field workers, Level 2 for rope system technicians, and Level 3 for supervisors with greater responsibility and knowledge in safety.
“Level 3 now demands a deeper understanding of safety. A new scheme must be developed to strengthen work safety, especially for the role of safety supervisors in rope access,” he added.
According to Sabandi, the workshop also served to introduce rope access to new members and to socialize the latest standards, aiming to increase awareness and understanding of safety procedures in working at height.
He further explained that PT Gamma Buana Persada is a training operator—an institution that trains rope access operators. “Gamma provides training for individuals and also supports operations on platforms such as oil refineries and offshore facilities, employing workers for high-altitude tasks,” he said.
“We also collaborate with one of the leading rope manufacturers, Petzl. Petzl is known for its strong research and development, producing durable and safe equipment. It’s recommended by IRATA and already certified for use in working at height,” Sabandi explained.
Meanwhile, Andre Reza Kusuma, Supervisor at PT Gamma Buana Persada, stated that rope access is an efficient and straightforward method for carrying out tasks at height.
“From an ergonomic standpoint, it’s very comfortable to use. The safety principles are strict, involving two ropes—one as the working line and the other as the safety line. So, if one rope fails, the other acts as a backup to ensure the user’s safety,” Andre noted.
“The tensile strength of rope access ropes can reach up to 2,700 kilograms, with various rope types available depending on the job requirements,” he concluded.
