AKTUALITA.CO.ID – PT Gamma Buana Persada hosted the 2025 SEARAC (Southeast Asia Regional Advisory Committee) Annual Meeting and Technical Workshop for Instructors and Assessors at the Kelapa Gading Sports Center in North Jakarta on Wednesday (May 7, 2025).
The event was attended by participants from various rope access companies and organizations across Southeast Asia.
Sabandi, the owner of PT Gamma Buana Persada, explained that this event was part of the IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) regional meeting for Southeast Asia, focusing on discussions about safety standards for working at height, as well as the latest developments in rope access technology and equipment.
“This is a regional IRATA meeting for South Asia, where all members gather to discuss safety standards and equipment used in working at height. Rope access is a safe working method that adheres to international standards,” said Sabandi.
He added that this meeting is held annually and rotates among different countries. This is the second time Indonesia has had the honor of hosting it.
He also mentioned that the CEO of IRATA from the UK was present and delivered a presentation on regulatory updates within the association, including the implementation of the latest training standards and the digitalization of the membership system for both companies and individuals.
“We have been an IRATA member for over 15 years. The membership offers many benefits, especially in ensuring safety and high work standards in the rope access field,” Sabandi added.
Meanwhile, IRATA SEARAC Chairman Syed Badruddeen stated that the annual meeting aims to strengthen collaboration among members in Southeast Asia and enhance understanding of IRATA’s new policies and changes.
“This year, we are honored to hold the meeting in Jakarta. With the growing number of new members from Indonesia, we aim to educate and unify the rope access community, and encourage active participation in the development of industry standards,” Syed explained.
“For a member to qualify as a full member, the company must understand the statistics and changes we are facing within our Association. With all the new implementations, our focus is on developing and educating new members and attracting more companies and members from Indonesia,” he added.
According to him, this year’s event was attended by representatives from nine Southeast Asian countries. “There are nine countries present, making this a strategic forum for sharing experiences, updating technical knowledge, and building professional networks within the rope access industry,” he concluded. **
